b. HOSCHTON RETRO 2000

HSTNOthr (27)What might have happened if our previous Mayor Bill and his City Council, in an attempt to eliminate the need for a City Property Tax, had been allowed to sell the asphalt road surface from City Square, all the street lights, and the Cityscape sidewalks…this would have returned City Square to its 20th Century state.    The Historic Hoschton Garage and Historic Wrecker Service (HHG&WS) would have remained on Broad Street and City Square would have had to revert to its former ‘two-way’ traffic pattern from Bell Avenue to Broad. The Hoschton Historic Commission might have been allowed to re-locate the ‘Historic Hoschton Darby-Mercantile/Cronic Barber Shoppe Building’ to the vacant lot between Lil’ Hooties and YesWay Realty – this ‘Historic’ building might have become the new public restroom, Hoschton Convention and Visitor’s Center, and City Hall Annex. The City Playground just across from City Square would have been eliminated because Mayor Bill and Councilwoman Kenerly wanted to ‘donate’ the equipment to the Jackson County Parks and Recreation Department.
